A judge recently settled a bitter dispute over the body of a deceased doctor when she allowed his first wife to arrange for his burial instead of the man's second wife.
Dr. Akilosa Anyaegbunam, chief of obstetrics at Jacobi Hospital in the Bronx, NY, died of a stroke at age 43.
His estranged first wife wanted him buried in New York. His second wife and his brother wanted him buried in his homeland in a ceremony befitting a clan chieftain.
The late Dr. Anyaegbunam was a chieftain in the Ajagba clan of Umuaroli of the Onitsha tribe before he left Nigeria in the mid-1970s for a prominent medical career in the Bronx, the New York Post reported.
