U.S. firms believe that government has a "limited," but "appropriate" role to play in stemming the loss of good-paying manufacturing jobs from American cities, according to a new report by The Center for Workforce Success, the training and education affiliate of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM). Employers cite two examples of this role: (1) tax incentives for firms to do on-the-job training; and (2) one-stop career centers to help firms recruit and train new workers.
