This rock painting comes from the Paleolithic period, a time when most people lived in caves. The people of that period spent most of their time trying to survive. They hunted animals for food and gathered whatever edible grains, nuts and plants they could find. Their very way of life would seem to preclude any inclination for producing art as decoration. Rock paintings like this one are among the earliest known works of art by man. They are found in many areas where Paleolithic man lived, and share similar characteristics with each other.
