Shippers in the world's most industrialized economies have reaffirmed their support for the Ocean Shipping Reform Act of 1998. At this year's Tripartite Meeting of Shippers, an annual meeting of major shippers' groups from North America, Europe, and Asia, the members stated their support for the legislation's objectives.
At press time, the bill (S. 414) had just been passed by the Senate on a voice vote and was on its way to President Clinton for his signature. (A full report on the new law and its impact on shippers will appear in next month's issue of Logistics.)
