It is apparent that of all his spectacular successes, Jay Van Andel reflects with most pleasure on the time he found to spend with Betty rearing their four remarkable children.
Editor's Note: For some, the entrepreneurial spirit starts early. As a schoolboy at age 15, Jay Van Andel offered a classmate a daily ride to school in his Model A Ford in exchange for 25 cents a week in gas money. The classmate was none other than Rich DeVos, and thus was launched a partnership and friendship that would eventually build a multibillion-dollar business called Amway.
