With its four entrees taking place in Turkey, Peru, Persia and North America, with its almost 20 solo parts and an abundance of dances and exotic locales, Rameau's Les Indes Galantes requires appropriate means. These were offered, in this Opera Garnier production, to William Christie and his ever-splendid Arts Florissants orchestra, playing at audience level, as in Baroque times.
