Depositions made by the Loyalists before the American Claims Commission -- the affidavits, testimonials, deeds and personal papers presented at the hearings -- are an integral part of many Loyalist families' oral and written history. It is encouraging to find that other available sources are also used to enhance and perhaps embroider the tales that are passed down from generation to generation.
