One of the bonuses of this June's attendance at the opening of Kiasma - Finland's new and impressive contemporary art museum (see C #58) - was the opportunity it afforded to find and visit a number of Helsinki's impressive artists, both in and outside the museum. Now, if you're in Helsinki in early September to visit the new museum, don't ignore the older and more historic Museum of Finnish Art just around the corner. There (to Sept. 7), you can see one of my finds: Jyrki Paranthainen has mounted a 600-square-foot installation of fiery images in large light-boxes.
