On the federal scene the election campaign has for all practical purposes already begun. New legislation will shorten actual campaign time from 47 to 39 days after the election writ is issued, making it even more difficult to evaluate individual candidates in that period. There is a need, therefore, to gather as much information as possible before election time. Several important developments concern the Liberal Party.
