Dennis Rodman, much like Madonna, has been the subject of significant academic theorizing. Both of their personas and media strategies have been characterized as disruptive and counter-cultural. Both cultural sensations have, according to many observers, radically defied normative conventions and conspired to redefine representations of gender, ethnicity and sexuality.
