FELT
The Museum for Textiles, Toronto, October 13 -- January 30
In her curatorial statement for "FELT," Kathryn Walter outlines a mythological origin for the curious fabric from which the exhibition draws its name:
According to popular European legend, the invention of felt is accredited to Saint Clement, the patron saint of Hatters who, while on a pilgrimage, placed sheep's wool in his sandals to protect his feet and made felt through constant pressure and moisture produced from walking. (Felt, 1999, p. 2.)
