THE CUT-AND-PASTE JOB is a type of book named after its manner of composition. The author, usually a journalist, goes through a clip file, cutting out all the items that support his thesis, and pastes them together, after light rewriting. The subject is typically some public event or public figure, and there is often a partisan axe being ground. Cut-and-pastes perform the valuable service of assembling information quickly in a handy format, and supporting the prejudices of their readers.
