Esmark Says Factor, Halston Not for Sale
Donald Kelly, chairman and chief executive officer of Esmark, Inc., said there are no current negotiations to sell the Max Factoror Halston/Orlane divisions.
At the shareholders' meeting here Thursday, Kelly said, "I'm personally very excited about Factor's future. We will let the shareholders and the Street decide Factor's future as time goes by.'
Kelly, Joel Smilow, chairman of International Playtex, and Linda Wachner, Factor's chief executive officer, all conceded Factor is a company in troduble, but insisted prospects should improve in 1984 through cost-cutting and a rigid focus on profitability. ...
