A fluid-power sailing system designed to assist in crewing chores on yachts 40' and over is a recent development of the merger of Navtec with Lewmar Marine Inc.
Called the Commander, the new system integrates Navtec's hydraulics with Lewmar hardware to introduce a multi-function package capable of driving up to nine separate shipboard operations. These can be as diverse as operating winches, sail furling, rig controls and the anchor windlass drive.
