NEW YORK -- Avon Products, Inc., said Tuesday it planned to sell its Tiffany & Co. division. It expects to identify a buyer in the next 60 days and close the deal within 90 days.
Although Avon said some 25 companies and individuals have expressed interest in buying Tiffany's, it said there is no leading candidate and that no one has submitted a bid. However, others close to the company say the sale is imminent.
Market sources believe interested investors include past and present Tiffany executives, among them Harry Platt, one-time president and a descendent of the founding family, who left the store two years ago. Other names that have come up include ...
