NEW YORK -- Not too many apparel industry executives can claim that they have risen from swatch boy to president of a major clothing company.
However, Alan Rubin is one individual who has accomplished just that ...without the benefit of being the boss's son.
At the tender age of 19, Rubin began his career nearly 20 years ago as a "gopher" at Joseph H. Cohen & Sons. At that time, JHC was a privately-held clothing company, founded in the 1900s, and was reputed to be the industry's largest unit producer of men's suits and sport coats.
