NEW YORK -- Novelty yarns continue to strongly outpace commodity yarns in sales to knitters, although some volume moderation in all types of yarns is evident recently, according to exhibitors at the Knitting Yarn Fair here.
"There is a resurgence of novelty yarns and hairy, twisted looks, which has taken the place of plainer commodity yarns," said E. Paul Schwarze, sales manager of North Carolina Spinning Mills, which spins naturals and synthetics. "Our business is up about 30 per cent since last year, and we are expecting that to continue."
