After at least six years of fine-tuning strategies to maximize profit-per-square-foot in a gasoline/grocery operation,
Amoco has settled on a solution. It is larger than a kiosk with candy, smaller than a full-scale convenience store, can fuel at least six cars at a time and is designed to operate with one cashier.
The concept is Amoco's 19-ft.-by-44-ft. "Food Shop," and units are shooting up in its major metropolitan markets about as fast as Amoco can build them.
