Article: Irwin Magnetics awards source production contract to SCI Systems Inc.

ANN ARBOR, Mich., Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Irwin Magnetics, which earlier this year introduced the industry's first compact, high-capacity tape drives for Winchester disk backup, has awarded a $20-million-plus second source production contract to SCI Systems, Inc., Huntsville, Ala.

Starting in the first quarter of 1985, SCI Systems will assemble Model 110 5-1/4-inch half-high tape drives, and later will produce Model 210 3-1/2-inch drives, plus selected future systems.
