DANBURY, Conn., Dec. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Union Carbide Corp. said today that more than three-quarters of the remaining methyl isocyanate at Union Carbide India Ltd.'s Bhopal plant has been converted into finished pesticide product.
"After operations on Sunday, Monday, and today," said James M. Rehfield, executive vice-president of Union Carbide Corp., "12 of the approximately 15 remaining tons of methyl isocyanate have been safely converted without any problems." Rehfield confirmed that work was proceeding during daylight hours only and estimated that the task should be completed with another half day's work.
