CHICAGO, Dec. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The keyboard industry, if not dead, has been at least comatose for several years. Yet signs of an awakening became evident recently when some music industry veterans bought the Lowrey Organ Co.

The purchase of this Chicago-based company was one more instance of the music business returning to the hands of "insiders," music men who have spent their lives selling musical instruments and who still believe in the business. Conglomerates that gobbled up music businesses back in the 1960s and 1970s when the business was hot and profitable are divesting these properties.
