Virgin Islands Struck by Storm
Total disaster!' . . . "I can't believe the devastation' . . . "I can't imagine what would have happened if a hurricane with 200-m.p.h. winds had hit us.' These were some of the comments witnesses made in the aftermath of Tropical Storm/Hurricane Klaus's destruction in the Virgin Island last November.
Klaus was officially upgraded to a hurricane as it left the vicinity of the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, but even though it was only a "minor' hurricane, the damage to yachts in the area was staggering. A bizarre combination of events caused losses to yachts to reach many millions of dollars.
