Hollow Dacron fiber unveiled by Du Pont
Du Pont on Thursday took the wraps off its hollow Dacron polyester fiber T-727, which has been developed specially for thermal applications primarily in innerwear and sleepwear.
Launched under the certification mark Thermax, the variant--a 1.2-denier staple--is the first hollow polyester fiber ever marketed for apparel and was said to resemble closely the hair of a polar bear.
Last year, Courtaulds NA marketed a hollow rayon fiber, Courcel, that absorbs and wicks moisture, and aimed it at both the thermal innerwear and read-to-wear fields.
