WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Active efforts are underway to change the poor public image of steel drums.
William Lazarus, president of the National Barrel and Drum Association, told The Oil Daily his group and the Steel Shipping Container Institute have redoubled their efforts to educate the public about the benefits of steel drums.
Located in Washington, D.C., and Union, N.J., the two trade groups, represent used drum recyclers and new drum manufacturers, respectively. They are exploring ways to eradicate the image of steel drums as a symbol of hazardous waste.
