NEW YORK -- The popularity of the "Miami Vice" television series and the wardrobes worn by its stars is the latest example of the media's growing influence on the way men in the 18-to-35 age group dress.

The "uniform" commonly associated with the popular television series--a softly-constructed blazer worn over a T-shirt and relaxed, pleated slacks--is already being adopted by fashion- and mdia-conscious young men. In response, many young men's clothing and sportswear manufacturers are tailoring their sport coat lines to meet the projected demand. Retailers are also capitalizing on the show's popularity by filling their windows with Miami-Vice-look displays.
