There are many depressing and shameful things to be said about this Administration, but if I was asked to enumerate my objections, I think I would put "lack of sympathy" at the top of the list. That might appear mild or banal; nevertheless, it is most alarming and repulsive to keep on meeting the spokesmen and servants of a government that neither knows nor cares how othe people feel. In WAshington these days, a person who asks the question "How does this policy look from the perspective of country X?" is instantly bullied into silence and accused of "blaming America first."
