The concrete ship Palo Alto, a World War I supply ship, has lain at the end of the Seacliff State Beach fishing pier near Santa Cruz since it was purposely sunk in 1929. Pier and ship help fishermen get out above deeper water. But 1982 and 1983 stormes damagd the pier, closing it.
