Nationwide 55 MPH Speed Limit Remains Good Idea
A BILL that would permit individual states to raise the current nationwide 55 miles per hour speed limit to 70 mph on interstate highways outside major urban areas is currently before the Senate and House.
As a major trucking company, we see what happens on America's highways and, accordingly, the limit should stay at 55.
Raising the present speed limit would result in an increase in the severity of highway accidents, the loss of fuel efficiency for both passenger and commercial vehicles, and heavy cost burdens for the trucking industry.
