NEW YORK -- Celanese Specialty Operations, division of Celanese Corp., has signed a licensing agreement with Sanyo Chemical Industries, Kyoto, Japan, for the manufacture and marketing of Sanwet super-absorbent polymr for disposable diapers and other end-uses requiring absorbency.
John N. Lauer, CSO executive vice-president, said in Chatham, N.H., that the agreement with Sanyo "allows Celanese to diversify int a new business related to our existing technical strengths." He noted that Celanese is a major producer of acrylic acid, the basic raw material for Sanwet Polymers.
