Article: Labor Day approach fails to boost gasoline prices.

GASOLINE prices continued to fall at most racks and terminals Wednesday, even with Labor Day barely two weeks away.

Traditionally, gasoline prices peak during the summer months and drop after Labor Day, the last holiday of the summer driving season.

This year, wholesale gasoline prices started tumbling during the third week of July. If prices fail to recover before Labor Day, the downward trend probably will continue for the rest of 1985.

There were a few upward price moves this week, however, with Marathon Petroleum Co.'s gasoline price increases marketwide Wednesday and Ashland Oil's increases in its Southeast markets Saturday.
