HK Exports to US Drop 6 Per Cent in Half Year

Hong Kong's exports of domestically made goods to the United States, its largest market, declined 6 per cent to $3.35 billion in the first half of this year from a year earlier, as a slight increase in textile exports were overshadowed by a sharp drop in electronic andaudio products, the government said.

Figures just released showed that U.S.-bound textiles and clothing were up 3 per cent to $40.27 million, while office machines and automated data processing equipment dropped 35 per cent to $117.69 million, and telecommunications and sound recording equipment fell 28 per cent to $84.36 million.
