BERKELEY, Calif. -- The North Face, an authentic backpacking and mountaineering apparel manufacturer, is introducing a line of men's and women's sportswear for the spring 1986 season under The North Face label.
Gib Mann, formerly designer and merchandiser at Sierra West Designs, has been named head of design, production and sales for the new sportswear line. Mann reports to Hap Klopp, president of the 17-year-old company which has an annual sales volume of approximately $850 million.
Deliveries will begin in January, primarily to sporting goods and sport specialty stores. Klopp projects sales for the first season at about $2.5 million wholesale. ...
