It's Glafko's day in court. He is one of the demonstrators who sat in last June in Santa Barbara, California, at Representative Robert Lagomarsino's office. They were protesting the House vote that day authorizing aid to the Nicaraguan contras.
Glafko and the others were arrested and jailed on trespassing charges. Some of the protesters pleaded nolo contendere and paid the small fines levied against them. Others, determined to raise the larger issues of First Amendment rights and international law, hired lawyers to fight their cases in court. But Glafko chose a third course.
