WASHINGTON, Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The Federal Home Loan Bank Board (FHLBB) today reported the following:
Interest rates on conventional home mortgages declined further from early November to early December and, in general, were at the lowest level since late 1979.
Average effective commitment rates fell from early November to early December, with the average rate for fixed rate mortgages (FRMs) dropping more than that for adjustable rate mortgages (ARMs). In early December, the average commitment rate for FRMs with a 75-percent loan-to-price ratio and term-to-maturity of at least 15 years for purchase of newly built, single-family homes equalled ...
