PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 30 /PRN-Mediawire/ -- The board of directors of the Bell Telephone Co. of Pennsylvania today authorized the company to issue debt securities, in one or more series, of an amount not to exceed $400 million.

The company plans to file a shelf registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission for the entire amount.
