The Reagan administration is pressing the House trade subcommittee to repeal the 34-year-old import embargo on seven furskins from the Soviet Union, describing the gesture as more "symbolic . . . than meaningful.'

The administration last week emphasized that the proposed repeal represents an important step in the President's commitment to improve U.S. relations with the Soviet Union on nonstrategic trade, cultural exchange and similar programs of mutual interest.
