NASHVILLE, Tenn., Feb. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Shoney's Inc. (NASDAQ: SHON) today announced a preliminary agreement to acquire its franchisee, Shocap Inc. through an exchange of common stock.
The franchisee operates 14 restaurants, including seven Shoney's, four Captain's D's and three Pargo's restaurants, and a Shoney's Inn.
The acquisition, which is expected to be completed on or about March 18, will be accounted for as a pooling of interests. Shocap Inc. owns the franchise rights for both Shoney's and Captain D's for Northern Virginia, Delaware, most of Maryland and Washington, D.C.
