Cancer, the Law, and Methylene Chloride
Methylene chloride is by no means a household word but it happens to be a chemical with a wide variety of industrial and consumer uses. Now these uses are being reviewed by various federal agencies because studies have shown methylene chloride can cause cancer in laboratory animals and may be a health hazard to humans.
Last December, the Food and Drug Administration proposed banning the chemical's use in aerosol cosmetic products--primarily hair sprays.
