LONG BEACH, Calif., March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Today is the fifth anniversary of duty with the United States Air Force for the McDonnell Douglas KC-10 advanced tanker/cargo aircraft.
The first KC-10 was delivered to the Strategic Air Command's Eighth Air Force on March 17, l981, and performed an aerial refueling while on its first mission on the way to Barksdale Air Force Base near Shreveport, La.
Since that first delivery, 40 more KC-10s have joined the Air Force fleet, and the plane has established a reputation as the most reliable in the Air Force.
