Exec says wool is making a major comback in '80s
In the 10-year span that followed the polyester doubleknit heyday of the mid-Seventies, wool has slowly but steadily gained a larger share of the apparel market, according to Robert E. Nahas, president of the Wool Bureau, Inc.
"In 1975, wool slipped to one of the lowest points ever,' Nahas said. "Since then there has been a constant increase in its use.'
He noted that in 1985 wool accounted for approximately 11 percent of all apparel fibers for outerwear and ready-to-wear consumed in the United States. The upward trend continues to gain momentum, and wool consumption is expected to be up 5 percent ...
