TOKYO, March 28 /PRNewswire/ -- In a co-announcement at the American Embassy in Tokyo, the Todai-ji Temple, the Agency for Cultural Affairs, the Asahi Shimbun, and the Art Institute of Chicago today announced plans for an unprecedented exhibition of Japanese Buddhist arts from the great temple complex of Todai-ji, located in Nara, Japan, the mecca of Japanese Buddhism.
This historic exhibition, entitled "The Great Eastern Temple: Treasures of Japanese Buddhist Art from Todai-ji," will be at the Art Institute of Chicago from June 28 through Sept. 7, and will include 151 objects, many of which have been designated by Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs as ...
