How Old Is a Young Man?
NEW YORK -- A persistent pattern of reporting has developed at department stores, which finds young men's business producing strong figures while men's wear is just tottering along.
This has become widespread, and serious enough to justify some soul-searching on the part of merchandising executives. Is the young men's business big enough and strong enough to support the bottom line for the entire men's department? Is the twice-a-year MAGIC market a microcosm of the male apparel business, with men's wear suppliers standing idly by, while young men's resources are caught up in malestrom of intense activity.
