Solomon Equities

Henry Smith-Miller's classically inspired interiors for the Manhattan headquarters of Solomon Equities express an architecture of semantics as well as of function. Installed in 15,000 sq. ft. on two floors of a Skidmore, Owings & Merrill-designed speculative office tower, the scheme was inspired by Solomon Equities' evolution as a major real estate developer. It centers on an "abstract and non-literal' representation of the essential architectural elements common to buildings, and manages to convey the firm's identity while also resolving such larger issues as the project's program and the interior's relationship to an existing exterior shell.
