The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) is exporting 400,000 tons of LPG during the second half of this year. Deliveries are being made out of Bandar Khomeini, Bandar Mahshahr, Kharg Island and Bandar Abbas. The volume for next year would total almost 1 million tons. Exports are moving to Japan, South Korea and Europe under short-term contracts or spot tenders.
Iranian LPG exports were stopped in 1987 after the downfall of the Pahlavi regime. Their resumption now coincides with a bold approach by the Iranian government to exporting natural gas in various forms.
