Article: Printing ink in Japan

Domestic demand for printing inks is growing faster than rate of growth of Japan's GNP, indicating the expanding range of applications and demand for printed methods of communication. This growing demand has increased sales of printing ink of all types from 150,000 tonnes (kt) in 1981 to 255kt in 1990, an estimated 260kt in 1991, and could exceed 300kt in the near future. Sales (shipments) of the various categories are shown in Table 1.
