Nearly 60% of all Mexican agricultural producers, including ejido members and private landowners, work less than five hectares of non-irrigated land.
Corn predominates in the ejido sector, accounting for 65% of planted area. Next in the ranking are beans (5%), sorghum (5.9%), and sugarcane (3.5%).
