The Agriculture Ministry has stopped using 10,000 tractors at livestock and forestry farms around the island because of a fuel shortage, says Granma, the Communist Party daily newspaper. The tractors are being replaced by "animal traction"--horsedrawn carts or yokes of oxen. Around 25,000 tractors are still in use on farms that grow citrus, rice and general produce. ...
