Summary: A series of European Community initiatives aimed at tackling specific problems in the EEC's regions were recently started up by the Commission in several Member States. Included in the range of initiatives are REGIS, ENVIREG, STRIDE, TELEMATIQUE, PRISMA, RECITE, ECOS and INTERREG. Of the countries to benefit immediately, Ireland and France are expected to receive significant boosts and more cash has been handed out under the INTERREG scheme, this time for two Benelux projects.
