RADNOR, Pa., June 16 /PRN-Mediawire/ -- A strong family foundation can protect a child from some of the harmful influences of television, but a child from a "weak and vulnerable family" will more likely be influenced by what is seen on the tube, Harvard child psychiatrist Robert Coles said today.
A child who is "having a rough time of it personally -- whose parents, for instance, are mostly absent, or indifferent to him or her, or unstable -- will be much more vulnerable to the emotional and moral power of television; will find in the programs all too much comfort or stimulation," Coles wrote in TV Guide magazine (June 21 issue).
