Chevron Chemical Company has developed and is now marketing an environmentally safe runway deicer for use on airport runways in the United States. This new potassium acetate runway deicer is marketed under the name of Chevron E36 LRD Liquid Runway Deicer.
Although potassium acetate deicers have been used by the military for over a year, they were just cleared last November for commercial airside use by the Federal Aviation Administration. Chevron E36 is a high-performance deicer and is environmentally superior to other liquid deicers, said Dan Walters, manager of Deicing Technology for Chevron Chemical Company.
